I always put a deposit down..... and then go and pay on it little at a time about every 2-3 months and see how everything is going just becauses he will see the money and I can see how the mount is going. and it don't seem like I'm trying to rush him.

^^^^Wrong. 90 percent of the time the ones that call are the ones that do come pick up there stuff when it's done. I'm sure other taxidermist will agree.

I don't think it hurts to call and get an update as long as its done in a professional manner. If you put him on the defensive, then you are probably not doing yourself any favors.

However, with my taxi I expect about a 4-5 month turn around, so i don't call until at least 4 months have passed. I usually tell him that I will be coming through there, have cash, and am ready to pay as soon as he gets done.

I will have to agree. Everyone of the animals that are still on my wall this year are from the hunters that called. I still don't mind if a customer calls just to ask how it is going. You could over to come by and drop off some money.

I don't mind a call or two. When someone gets to being a "squeaky wheel" then I tell them I will add a month everytime they call.

I figure if you dont make a PIA out of yourself the taxi will not mind a call or two. Now if you call every week like a kid asking "are we there yet" you probably will never get your stuff back
At least you will start wondering if you will ever get it back

Yes, that is what my taxidermists meant, he knows when they call they are more likely to pay up and pick up their mounts.

I'd say one call never hurt anyone
