home AC guys, how common is capacitor death, leading to no joy

home AC guys, how common is capacitor death, leading to no joy....

11 year old setup, seems that is what has been wrong with out AC for the last couple of years....meaning everything would run but seemed like the AC would never breech the 10 degree variance or so....

had a guy come out yesterday and checked the juice, said everything looked ok, next he went for the capacitor...said it was way low, threw in a new one on the outside then one on the inside, BAM....eskimo land is BACK! 2.5 bones but it's worth it....

most common thing to go out. My house is 8 years old and i have replaced 2 i work on them for apartments and it is one of the biggest thins to go wrong.

guess I will stock up...lol....it didn't look all that bad to replace...the outside unit is a piece of cake, the inside looks to be a little more tricky...but I think I can handle it....for $250, I WILL handle it...lol

I know from the fridge side, that is what is a common issue as well....very cheap part to replace

250$ is a tad on the high side, but they are the most common part to go bad when it's as hot as it has been

they got me for $90 after hours call since it was after 5pm....it was $69 for an 8-5 call....I might be tight...but I ain't that tight...

I was gonna call you but I figured you wouldn't come all the way across the planet in traffic....at least not cheaply....

the capacitors cost about 30$ and 4min to replace just make sure you look at the letters on the capacitor and put the right wire to the letter

Rr isnt that far and you can ask around, I wouldn't have gotten to you that badly. Do a search for previous people who have needed my help and capital air. I try to take care of anyone on here that needs it. Gimme a shout if you ever need anything

I think I can handle that....if I can convert a speed density F150 over to mass air....this would have been a piece of cake if I had a clue....lol

ok, I'll bite....what do you mean or as opposed to...??

could repetetive power spikes/outages kill or diminish the functionality of the capacitors?
