    Carrying a gun into Cabelas

I called them and got the usual 5000 rings so i hung up. I need to take a rifle up there to get a scope put on it and get it bore sighted. How should i take the rifle in so i dont get in any trouble? Obviously unloaded and in a case but do i need to put a trigger lock or anything on it? Also, does anyone know how much they charge to bore sight?

When I did that someone was at the front door and will escort you back to the department you need to go to.

They have a gun check in counter right at the front of the store. Take it to them and they will clear it and secure it. Then they will have an associate take it back to the counter with you.

I just carried my gun (in case) to the customer service counter where they gave me a tag and then assisted me back to the gun section.... they will take care of you

I would think they put their own lock on when you walk in.

they will trigger lock it for you when you get there. empty and cased. i think it is about $20 for bore sighting, unless you bought the scope there.

Sippy, is it a bolt action gun?

If so, bore sight it yourself. Prop it up on sandbags and remove the bolt completely. Look down the bore (from the breech end obviously ) and position it where you can see the bullseye in the center of the bore. Adjust your scope accordingly...

Also, if the screws/mount is there for your scope, it's a snap to install the scope yourself. Holler at me if you need to.

I would recommend you remove the bolt if it's a bolt action. Or at least have the action in the open position. I like to not only BE safe, but make everyone FEEL safe. Nothing says "safe" like a wide open action.
