Put cedar mulch or cedar shavings for their bedding and frontline on their backs. Effective combo for fleas.

put diatamaceous earth(dt) in your back yard as well it works great. Probably butchered the spelling I buy it at the feed store.

Garlic powder in the food. I mix it with water to make a broth. My heel is allergic to fleas and this has kept them off for 15 years. It is a remedy I learned from grandfather.

an Exterminator... My folks have a lot of trouble with fleas because of their dogs and all the sand where they live. They've tried just about all the store bought stuff and an exterminator is about all that ever worked.

Hartz flea and tick collars work for me whereas the frontline does nothing for them here!

This stuff is great. We use to use Frontline, but were having problems early this year with fleas and switched to Comfortis. I was amazed at the difference and am sold.

They are a ***** to get under control once you have them. There is a pill you can give an animal that will get rid of every flea on them overnight. It won't keep them off but gives the animal temp. relief and you a starting point to get em under control.

I find if I keep the yard treated and under control,. I just spray with an active ingredient that controls fleas in a pump sprayer and change to one that has a different active ingredient that controls fleas so they do not become resistant. Dont know if it is right but it works for me. About 1 a month or if I start seeing them. then I just use heartz spray on my dogs if I see them on the dog because they go a lot of places other than my yard.

I too live in sand and the only thing that works for my dogs is a 1 1/2 dose of frontline plus. A recommended amount for their weight wasn't working so I upped it a bit and it worked.
