Glad to see gassers getting smaller. I ran 150cc engines in my 40% planes.

used to fly all the time in high school and beginning of college...then had to sell everything to help pay for school and books...you can easily sink 5 grand without even thinking...but its a great, clean, fun hobby...teaches you to be very very meticulous, attentive, etc...i will get back into it when kids are a little older...nothing like building a plane from scratch, putting the motor, electronics and everything in it and watching it take flight...pretty awesome sense of accomplishment...

Building models ain't what it used to be. There is a huge shortage of balsa wood and most all of the kits now are using laser cut skeleton lite plywood, fiberglass and pvc and some carbon fiber rods for stiffening because the plywood is prone to warping.
They tell me the balsa shortage is because most of it is going into ship building and to make the blades for the big electric wind turbine generators.
Most everything is coming out of China so there goes the quality.
It is near impossible to find a good all balsa kit or one with balsa sheeted foam core wing panels.
MAL Hobbies in Irving, Tx used to cut kits if you supplied the plans but they can't get any wood or so I've heard.
