My Puppy Hunts!

Two months ago my family picked up a pretty Lacy pup from a gentleman in Ponder. Most of you know that Lacy's are ranch dogs & pig dogs. However, I don't own any cattle, I ain't running through brush to chase pigs, but once in a while a good blood trailing dog could come in handy. Tonight we had our first test run. Since deer are out of season I bought a giant piece of bloody beef cheek meat from Walmart. With a piece a rope tied to the meat I drug it around a field. Since it was her first time out I only went 25 yards.

Pepper stuck her nose in the grass and like an expert followed the trail until she found the meat.

Tomorrow is a longer trail. I'm hoping to have her ready by deer season!

Yea! Makes you so proud of them doesn't it. You might talk to a local taxi or meat market and get some blood and hide to use. We keep some in the freezer in an old water bottle and use it for trails.

Aint it fun. I'm also starting a new pup this year and I'm amazed at how good their noses are. I can't seem to fool mine. I keep making tougher and tougher trails and she nails 'em every time.

Very nice job. I need to do that with my lacy been awhile. Have some frozen deer heart better set it out tonight, will do some trails in the morning.
