    separated ribs...torn cartilage

Anyone ever experience this??? I tore some cartilage causing a couple of separated ribs this past weekend at the driving range and man it's painful!!! Can't laugh, cough, sneeze, breath deep, bend, twist, push, pull...doc said there's not much he can do, just got to put the clubs up and relax for a while. Also can't draw my bow which is even more annoying than not being able to swing my clubs...

I'm pretty sure i did the same thing working out. It's right against my sternum on the right side. Quite uncomofortable.

Did the same thin 4 years ago wakeboarding. It took me 3 months to heal completely. Hope you heal quicker than I did.

I think Chris did the same thing yesterday. He's been moaning and whining around the office this morning.

I did it once while pushing around some boulders on a landscape job. Didn't hurt to much at first but later that night after sitting a while it started hurting like crazy. Couldn't breath, stand, bend over , without immense pain. Finally had to go to the Er just to get the wife off my back. She thought I was having a heart attack, , about 6 hrs in the ER and some pain meds is all it took to make it bearable. Was sore for a month a least.

Didn't tear the cartlidge, but fractured my rib while at Infantry school a few months ago. That pain in your side sucks. Same thing man, hard to sleep, breath, or really do anything without being uncomfortable. Only thing worse I think is back.

Did the same thing swinging a baseball bat back in college... 4-6 weeks of doing nothing or it will never heal...

I tore my sternum once. Collided with the first baseman as he stepped across the bag ahead of me to chase down an errant throw. It was like 2 atoms smashing together! The only thing I found that helped was an ace bandage wrap which kind of restricted the movement when lightly wrapped up. Other than that, not much can be done. Time will heal, but it's going to take a few months to fully recover.

That's why I don't play golf--it's dangerous and I just don't understand why the gub-mint doesn't do something about it. We need regulations, licenses, etc.!!!!
