    2007 F-250 noise

I've had a high pitched howl coming from my engine area. It occurs as I accelerate and goes away if I let off the gas. I put in a new air filter which was due but curious if any of you have had the howling noise under the hood? Runs fine just to a rd trip to the ranch of 750 miles did fine except for sorry gas mileage! Thanks for any suggestions....

      Check your fan clutch.

I had a similar noise after my power steering hose worked itself halfway off....

Could also be a vacuum leak

It is a diesel. I'll do some checking from your your suggestions. It seems since I have heard the noise my gas mileage has gotten worse by a couple of miles per gallon.

Blew a turbo hose somewhere. Increased noise + crappy mileage. Have you noticed an increase in smoke and a loss of power

No excessive smoke but maybe some loss in power. I hauled #5000 of feed this past week from Hondo to Del Rio and it did o.k. but mileage was 12 mpg usually 14.5 mpg hauling that load. That was my thought the turbo but didn't think hose. I'm gonna give it a good look over tomorrow. I appreciate the suggestions...

Check plastic turbo cooler hose under air cleaner. Some times air cleaner rubs hole in it.May not smoke much more but will make noise and lose power.
