Some ideas to try to get better life.

Take widgets off your home page, Use plain wall paper with no animations, turn off windows animation, turn down screen brightness.

Go to Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks and uncheck “Enable always-on mobile data.” i think this will let the phone use Wi-Fi when available, but not sure. The Wi-Fi uses less power?

Go to Settings > Accounts & sync and have a look at what is there. Turn off some of the auto-sync

With Apps i use I set them to update less frequntly or only manualy

You can use the settings, battery manager to see what is using most of your battery.

duh i just remembered im on a cooked up rom. if you root your evo you can load custom roms. people optimize them to run faster and use way less battery

I've got a rooted evo and it has a decent battery life. Get a rom that lets you under/overclock and you can underclock for tons more battery life.

The extended battery doubles the thickness of your phone. I hate it. My boss got it and it's a brick now.

I've had blackberries also, and I think they make a much better business phone. Good battery life with great email connectivity and compatibility. The evo is a great casual phone, but if work's involved, get a BB.

wes122984, what rom are you using? I have been wanting to load a custom rom on mine, I just don't know which one to do.

I never liked the ideas of the roms, just like modding your xbox etc.

I dont want to have any warranty/insurance issues with it if I need to take it back or what not... and I dont want to always be redoing it.

So what BB would you recommend then?

I have had the 8330... (I think) I didnt like it.

I am sure there are better ones out by now...

its currently on MikFroyo but ive been getting bored with it lately and will be changing soon. just read all the comments on them, download them and try different ones out. its fast and easy to switch them. also there is an app called rom manager that lets you switch between different ones

I would highly recommend Advanced App Killer. It's a free app from the store and it has made a world of difference. Also like everyone else said make sure only the devices you need are running. GPS kills the battery life!
