How do you season your cast iron grill

I am about to buy a new grill and was wondering if you season your cast iron grill grates or not. If so how and how often?

Coat it inside and out with solidified bacon grease (drip it into a jar for a while if you don't have any). Put in the oven at 250 for a few hours. Wipe off and repeat.

Yep. Keep putting grease on it and burning it.

Paint it with cooking oil, fire it up and get it hot, reapply cooking oil several times for about an hour or so.
Kill the flame, after it cools...paint it with cooking oil.

          Then :
Cook your steaks or chops or whatever you want after that.

i was told, and have done this method with good results:

buy your self some bacon ends and freeze them into a block. heat your grill up real hot and put on some leather gloves. then take that block of bacon ends and rub it on every inch of the inside of the grill. the heat will make the fat melt on like butter.

i did this, and then when it dried, i took crisco and smothered it on again and smoked the pit for several hours until i couldnt see any crisco left.

I did yhe bacon grease method, and everytime before I grill I cut an onion in half and rub it all over yhe grates after they get to cooking temp. Makes a big difference and smells/tastes awesome!

Just spray it down with grilling Pam and build a small fire just enough to heat it up. Don't over do it or you will have oil all over the patio. Then just spray grates with Pam before you use or if you see any rust until it gets cooked in.
