    Best ammo for 40 S&W

I just got my New Glock model 22 and was wondering what is the best ammo to use. I will be using this for plinking and wouldn't mind trying it on a hog.

    Thanks in advance.

For plinking I always use winchester white box from wally world. There are several other cheap ones out there, but this has always worked fine for me and all my shooting buddies.

x2 - They shoot just fine for plinking. I've probably shot a thousand rounds of that stuff out of my Glock .40 and not a single jam or misfire. Word of advice though, get some hollow points for hogs, solids will just **** them off if you don't hit right on the money. Hollow point anywhere in the head and they'll drop in their tracks. Learned this on trapped pigs.

As far as hollow points, I've had GREAT results with Corbon DPX and Hornady XTP's

The Speer 165 gr. gold dots are great.

For defense I use Speer gold dot 180gr. For plinking I reload my own but I used to use winchester white box.

For plinking WWB or Federal from Walmart will work just fine.

For self defense against 2 legged critters, 155 grain Speer Gold Dots, Federal Tactical HST (NOT HYDRASHOKS), or Winchester Ranger (T series if you can find it).

For hogs use Double Tap ammo with the 180 grain controlled expansion round which is or used to be the Hornady XTP round.

Doubletap Ammunition has rapidly gained a reputation for powerful, reliable and accurate ammunition. We continue to be at the cutting edge of innovation from defensive ammunition to hunting ammunition. Quality control and precision craftsmanship are top priority at Doubletap.

The corbon dxp's seem to be really light weight in comparison to other rounds....more fps I suppose.

WWB, American Eagle (Federal) and Speer Lawman are good practice or plinking ammo.

The aren't that bad of defense rounds either but for hollow points, Federal HST.

DXP's are light because they are all copper and cannot match lead bullets in weight. To manufacturer all copper bullets equivalent to the same weight of lead would result in the bullet becoming too large in size.

I carry Gold Dot 180 grain on duty. I shoot lawman 180 grain for plinking.

Remington Golden Sabre is the best Hollow Point on the market for the .40 Caliber. I personally have mutiple hog kills with just one round from a Glock Model 22, .40 Cal, 165 Grain Remington Golden Sabre.

I prefer the 180gr bullets in mine. They're what I've always shot, and my model 22 has put down dozens of hogs over the years.

For hog dispatch, I like the MagTech JHP's (they now have a copper bullet that looks interesting, should be good for weight retention).

For plinking, I have shot thousands of rounds of Armscor 180gr JHP. They're reasonably priced and pretty dang reliable.
