Stupid hat question.

I have never owned a fitted hat. That is going to change but I don't know what size. I measured my head with a cloth tape, how to I convert the large number of inches from my large bucket into a hat size? I am asking because a friend wants to buy me a hat ans needs to know what size.

Go to a store that sells fitted hats and try several sizes on.

Most fitted hats are mixed number sizes. Like 7 1/8.

From my experiences fitted hats are like shoes, they all have their own size. My fitted ball caps are all 7 1/4, but all my cowboy hats are 7 1/8. Sorry I am not any more help than that.

I bought my friend a Russian Ushanka. One of the sellers on ebay had a conversion.
