    Pool guys--Pebble Tec

I'm about to start a pool and am wanting Pebble Tec. Has anyone had a problem with this? I saw one that had been drained for awhile and the rock pebbles were coming off. Anyone had this problem? Thanks.

My mom's pool has pebble tech with no problems of it coming off. However, she does not let the pool stand empty, that's when they try to float up and get cracks. Also while the PT looks nice, it's hard on your feet. It's like walking on sandpaper and the surface doesn't get any smoother. There's also a cleaning issue, you'll likely have to drain it and pressure wash it and that surface is just that much harder to clean. She's now wanting the PT removed and put on a smooth surface. To each his own, good luck.

I had mine resurfaced with pebble tech 2 years ago and have had no issues to date. We have found it not to be as hard on the feet as the old plaster.

I have PT in my 11 yr old pool and have had no issues. I would put it in again if I ever build another pool.

If you do the brushing pebble tech is really smooth however I only brushed ours some as we have an entertaining sports pool no slipping

8 yr old pool with pebble Tec. No problems and love the natural look versus the sky blue boring pool look!

I have done a 100 or so pools with Wet Edge Satin Matrix (main competition to Pebble tech) and have had no issues. It is a little rougher than plaster, but will last 2 or 3 times as long. My customer's love it.

My brother has pebble tech in his pool. Don't ever let it get very much algae in it! He decided not to worry about chemicals over the winter since nobody was swimming and the pool went green. He added a bunch of chemicals about 6 weeks ago and got the water clear but it was covered in green algae all over the sides and bottom. In my pool boy days, I would have just shocked the crud out of a plaster pool, added some algicide, then flocked it and vacumed the silt out. We tried that, but no joy. Ended up draining whole pool, pressure washing it which took a full day, then refilling and starting over. BTW, once the algae dries out, it's a beast to get off.

                  Love my Pebble Tec.

X2 on the algae issue. Dont let the pool turn green. The roots of the algae grow deep in between the pebbles and can be very difficult to get rid of.

We had pt in a pool growing up. Never had issues. We where the companies first pool with it. That was 16 years ago or so

We do Crystal Stone, basically the same thing with different names for the colors, we hardly do the large aggregate, we do what is called smooth or mini pebble, way easier on the feet, it will outlast regular plaster finishes by far.
