So last night I'm waiting on hogs in a ladderstand at a new place Jamie set up (this is going to be a GREAT setup). Climbed in the stand about 6:30, feeder goes off at 7. about 8:10 4 deer come out of the trees on the far side (two obviously still pregnant). A few minutes later three more come out from behind me and the big doe in the group chases a yearling out from under the feeder. It runs back into the trees where it came and the three with it followed it in. Shortly they come back out and I see the first raccoon coming out of the trees. Two more coons and another deer from behind me makes 8 deer and three coons within 35-40 yards from me. Just as I'm trying to take a picture you would have thought a bomb went off in the middle of the clearing because deer and coons exploded every direction. One deer went behind me and stopped about 25 feet away, another stopped right under me, then I felt the stand move. I looked down and a coon was climbing the ladder!!! he was about 5 or 6 rungs up and reaching for the next. I REALLY didn't want to share the stand with him, so I stood up to shoot straight down at him. When I did the ladder made a real slight creak. The deer bolted, the coon saw me and jumped, landed on his side with all 4 feet clawing the air till he got his feet under him.
Hung around about an hour, but no pigs. At least there was a little excitement.
