    Kb homes?

I am in the market to buying my first house around Pearland. I have been looking around at older homes for sale for the past few months. I have nor found anything yet, but I guess I am kinda picky. I ran across a neighborhood today where the homes were made by KB Homes. Do you guys know if this is a good homebuilder? My price range is around 140,000 and these houses start around 135,000. Any info would be much appreciated.

Track builder. Used to work for them. They are about like any other. It's all about quanity. One of my old lumber sales reps told me the other day the build schedule is something like 45 days give or take. Kinda crazy if you ask me. The material is pretty much going to be the same as the other guy at that price point. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Look at the recently sold market for houses that are comparable to get an idea of the markets view.

I will say that they are on the lower end of cookie cutter homebuilders

I used to be in the lumber supply business now in Govt quality assurance The KB was always Kant Build in our world. Jason with that price range they are all gonna be about the same as far as a cookie cutter house. Honestly I'd look for a little older more custom built home not in a stack on top of you small lot community.

What they said.. They are bottom of the food chai in the San Antonio area. I have been told that in Arizona they are a top builder so go figure. I have friends that were superintendants for them for years and years and from what they told me they would over see over 50 houses going up at one time. You have to ask yourself how could they have quality like that?? Keep looking..

My impression of them up here in the Dallas area is they are a low end builder. Zero lot line, lots of siding vs brick, etc. We looked at them in the late 80's and weren't impressed. Those same houses today, 23 years later, aren't looking too good.

I am not going to buy from them again.
Everything was done in a rush except the closing!! I know its all about the money but they need to slow done and build them right the first time.
                My problems:
                Clogged drains with construction debris
Workers but there names in the garage floor with some kind of glue
                Drainage issues and wood rote
Gave us the run around and never fixed it

Buyer beware, if you do get a deal go over everything and document any problems!!!

I never knew Henry ran KB. I knew he had a start up company on the southside that was building houses. I thought all he ever did was Linda Medlar.

Yep, not sure what position he held but he wrought havoc there along with having something to do with countrywide and the whole giving of loans to those who had no way to pay them off...he was at the forefront of our urgent economic problems
