What is the deal with Permanone?

I can't find Repel Permanone anymore except in one store and they doubled the price of a six ounce can from last year to this year. I found some cans of the Sawyer Permathrine spray but it seems like all of these types of products have disappeared from the shelves. I don't know if the supply didn't keep up with the demand, or something else is going on. Any ideas?

I have no clue, but this is the likely scenario :

Last year PETA started raising public awareness that Permamone was killing innocent mosquitos. PETA brought this to the attention of animal lovers and made sizeable $$ donations to the liberal politicians in Washington.

when the Democrats controlled the house, they passed laws placing a 300% tax on Permamone with kickbacks to PETA.

sales dropped nationwide and REPEL had to let many employees go.

Realizing they were fixing to go out of business, REPEL shut down their US production factory and contracted cheap labor in Mexico after being promised tax breaks thru NAFTA

REPEL is still waiting on the tax break credits as stock value has plumeted to .25 cents per share.

REPEL has filed for bankruptcy and is another example of a proud US based company going under b/c of political B.S. and rediculous taxes.

Well, this may not be true but it sounds good

There is a shortage of the Technical grade throughout the pesticide industry, due to this now being used in numerous products. I know we formulate a lot of prducts using permanone.

I just bought some at Academy two weeks ago. I didn't look at the price, sorry, but I do know it's available. Works good to keep the ticks off during Spring turkey season.

I probably need to check back at Academy next time I'm in Plano or Mc Kinney.

My wife is buying a few 9oz cans of the Sawyer Permethrin this morning just so we have something. I've used it also, and it works well.

I bought a 6oz can of Repel Permanone at Sports Authority here in Frisco before I went turkey hunting and it was over $10 a can! Fortunately, I had one full can left over from the fall.

You forgot the part where right before they declare bankruptcy because of faulty fiscal policy they were told they way for them to help fix the economy was to "hire more workers".

Go to Drugstore.com and look for the Repel, they have it for $5.59. I ordered 4 cans and it dropped to $4.59!

I've been getting Repel Permanone from Academy because they quit carrying the Sawyer brand here. I prefer the Sawyer my self.

Whatever you can find at whatever price buy it.
I don't know that's my problem right now but I've been fighting fevers for a month now and Docs have no clue why.
And I was bit by a tick 2 months ago. Sure wish I had sprayed everything with "the stuff"...

My wife bought two of the 24oz spray bottles of the Sawyer's brand stuff from ****'s on Friday. I was in Academy yesterday and they didn't have the Repel Permanone. They had a can that looked exactly like it, but when I looked at it closer it was Repel Mosquito Spray for clothes. It didn't say anything about being permethrin based. And looking at Repel's website, I don't see Permanone listed.

A guy at Walmart tried to tell my wife that it had been discontinued because of some problems that soldiers had with it, but I discounted that until I was having problems finding it. I see some good deals on the internet, though, and I might buy a few more cans from those vendors, just in case.

                          Make your own.
Last year I went to the feed store and bought some permethrin 10% for $11.00, bought a 32oz bottle sprayer at Home Depot and can make it for pennies on the dollar. I will get you the exact mixture later. You can probably make a 8 or 10 of those bottle sprayers.

I mix 17 ounces of water to 1 ounce of 10% permethrin. If you do 20 to 1 it gives you about 5% which is what you buy when you buy permanone spray cans.
