Yes I have and it takes a lot of practice and I recommend a low poundage bow 30 to 40 so it's a fast easy draw. I always go alone that way I can stand in the middle were it is the most stable. I always wanted to build a pontoon to add to mine but never did.

I used to bowfish out of my canoe a lot. If there are 2 people, one guy shoots and one guy paddles. A wide 16 footer works pretty good. what we did to make it more stable was to take some 5 gallon water jugs, the collapseable kind and fill them with water. This would act as a ballast of sorts to make the canoe sit lower in the water when we first started to shoot. as we put more and more fish in the boat, we'd dump out more and more of the water. Our rule was when the shooter shoots, he'd sit immediately and then the other person could stand and take a shot. We never tried to video, but we never capsized the canoe either. We fished in the daytime though. didn't ever try lights at night. When the gar or carp spawn is on, a canoe is hard to beat for working them in shallow water. If I went alone, I'd sit backwards on the rear seat and paddle from closer to amidships. That worked ok, but it is easier with 2 people. I had a 16 foot Mad River and my buddy had a 16 foot Old Town... I still have mine, though it hasn't been out in a long time... it hangs in the cieling of my garage, but I still have it... just in case... We shot light poundage recurves with AMS retreivers... worked pretty good.

Don't let these guys, or any safety concerns for that matter, discourage you. The canoe is the only way I know. It's a lot of work and you won't win the Most Fish division in any tournament but it is definitely doable. We use( two guys) a LED spotlight at night, on guy stands and shoots the other paddles and runs the light. Not easy but fun. I posted a similar thread last year and got the same discouraging replies, so I made it my goal to land a 5'+ A.gar out of the canoe, hopefully I get that done this spring.
