Suggestions on where to buy AR

Lately I've gotten interested in tactical guns after seeing a few at the range when I go to shoot my pistols. I was wondering if anyone might suggest a good place to pick up a base model AR-15, as I don't want to spend the cash for one fully equipped all at one time, and just add to it as I go. Also any help on manufacturers would help too. I've read good things about Bushmaster.

Well I've seen several between 800.00 - 1000.00 so I'm assuming that's about a good range? I was expecting to pay around that, but of course that's minus all the goodies.

Rock River looks like they are still running their tactical rifle sale. They are rigged out and run about $1,500 regular price plus shipping and FFL.

Right now they are $1,000 and free shipping. All you need is an FFL so probably $1,020 driveout.

The same deal is $920 if you are a police officer and no FFL needed. I have one and know 12 other officers that have the same model.

Their base rifle is about $950 plus any extras. This package comes with a free floating quad rail, choice of sight, flip down front sight, chrome bolt carrier group, 6 position stock and a winter trigger guard, ERGO grip, national match trigger for using gloves.

You might try MODEL 1 firearms. (Google Model 1 firearms) They are out of the DFW area and have a huge selection. You can build a nice one for $900. I also got the "evil black rifle" itch a while back, built one from model 1 stainless steel 20" fluted bull barrel-it was too heavy for my likeins, went and bought 16" bull olympic arms and really like the shorter one. I bought the Rock River several years ago from Cheaper than dirt in Ft Worth.....I love it!!!

a lot of the "upgrades" for other guns come standard on theirs....two stage trigger, hogue grips, etc

You can shop around and buy a colt, Lmt or bcm at that price point.

I ordered the Elite Operater 2 as my first AR a few months ago, and I couldn't be happier with it. Shot great right out of the box, and already has some "goodies" that I would probably have added on later. The only addition I have made is a Magpul front grip. Good luck!
