    Scoring Blackbuck

What is the standard way to score and classify a blackbuck? SCI measures length of horns and circumference of the bases to get a total. (The blackbuck would have to have 20 in. Horns and 4 in. Bases to make Bronze class with a bow in SCI. 48 inch minimum for bronze.) LSBA has another way, measuring spread and length.

What is a good blackbuck, in length of horns; and how do you make Gold, Silver, or Bronze? Most exotic ranches have their biggest blackbucks in the 18-22 inch range, far from silver or gold class according to SCI. Any info will be appreciated as I'm thinking about booking a blackbuck hunt, thanks.

Well you would meausre on the curl and circumfrence measurement at the base only. Go to the following link and go to NAME YOUR GAME... Everything you need here.

I've been on that website, great info, I'm just confused because I would think more ranches would have more silver and gold class animals. Yet it seems they don't.

I have seen a lot of silver and gold black bucks. A day lease won't have one more then likely. We shot two gold last year and a silver. A buck will 21 in horns will go @ 25 on the curl so with 4.5 bases you are looking at 59.

So, is the correct way to measure them by starting at the base in front and going around the outside of the curl?

As a general rule typically a 20" straight up bb is a gold medal animal depending on the curls. The one in my avatar was 21" straight up and made gold easyily

My wife shot one at our place in San Angelo that had 21 1/2" horns and 6 1/2" bases. That is measuring the horn straight, not around the curl. We turn all of our exotics into ROE and they don't wrap the horn. It is a straight measurement. You also get a mid-length circumfrence measurement. Her blackbuck was Gold by 5 or 6 inches.

Mine missed Bronze by 3/8th's of an in, but with the bow, I was more than happy with it.
