    Yeah, it's cool. I had one almost knock my hat off once too. I was out calling coyotes, and sitting on the toolbox of my pickup with a rabbit in distress tape playing in the cassette player (it was the '80s). About 10 hawks and owls were circling, and one of them dove at my hat when I moved a little. It let out a big SCREEEEETCH right before it hit me, and I ducked just in time. I nearly ruined a good set of underwear on that one.

      I remember reading an article about a guy hunting with a dachshund and a hawk as a team. I'm not sure how he kept the hawk from eating the dog. The hawk would circle above & the dog would find & flush rabbits & the hawk took care of the rest. I have always been fascinated with falconry.

        Several members of our club use Dachshunds, my apprentice uses a mini dachshund. You must get the hawk to accept the dog as part of the hunting team. ET
