Question on Seal Team 6... it's my understanding that the Seals are not really just Navy.. that they are an elite team made up , on loan from if you will, from the individual elite teams of the other branches as well as the Navy..(Marines, Army, etc..)..
    Is this a true statement?
navy seals are like. army rangers. or air force sere...

all special forces of a given branch, but seals are still considered navy... is that your question?

Well sorta.. I havn't googled,.and i guess i should ..but I thought members of the Seals are actually made up of all branches, that apply to become Seals..and are not just Navy..
i.e. Ranger apply to become Seals , are accepted to endure the legendary training courses and if they make it through that are now considered Navy Seals while still maintaining their original branches rank/file..

Navy seals are navy....there are other special forces teams that are comprised of other branches together. That is where it might have been confused.
But redneck is right. navy seals are only navy...army rangers are army.

It would seem what i was referring to is US SPECIAL FORCES , which is made up of all the elite groups from each branch..

                Navy SEAL Requirements

                Official U.S. Navy photo.
SEAL trainingEntering training to become a Navy SEAL is voluntary. Anyone can volunteer, and officers and enlisted men train side by side. In order to enter SEAL training, however, they do have to meet certain requirements. Those wishing to volunteer for SEAL training have to:

•be an active-duty member of the U.S. Navy
•be a man (women aren't allowed to be Navy SEALs)
•be 28 or younger (although waivers for 29- and 30-year-olds are possible)
•have good vision -- at least 20/40 in one eye and 20/70 in the other (corrective surgery is also possible)
                •be a U.S. citizen
•pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)
•Pass a stringent physical screening test that includes the following procedure:
1.swim 500 yards in 12.5 minutes or less, followed by a 10-minute rest
                2.do 42 push-ups in under two minutes, followed by a two-minute rest
                3.do 50 sit-ups in under two minutes, followed by a two-minute rest
                4.do six pull-ups, followed by a 10-minute rest
5.run 1.5 miles in boots and long pants in less than 11.5 minutes
Once a potential SEAL qualifies for training, the real fun starts.

JSOC - Joint Special Operations Command

Some call them “Murder, Incorporated.” Others say they're America's counterterrorism ”ace in the hole.” JSOC is the elite Special Ops force that has been at the tip of the spear from Bush to Obama.

I dont understand why everyone is celebrating over one person being killed when there are many more terrorists out there. If its over, we should bring those troops to protect our own border.

I said we should have done so a long time ago.

forget about the sand box. lets protect our own first.

until the terrorists try to cross our border they are not our problem...

SPECIAL OPERATIONS FORCES, are made up of all forces, it is a collective term to cover the spec ops comminity within JSOC (Joint Special Operations Command)
This includes Navy SEALS, Army Rangers, and Army Special Forces as well as others.

SPECIAL FORCES, is a part of the Army, and only the Army .
