Auto all the way.........Its really not about pros/cons and all about preference...

A 2000 in good shape will bring 10,000 real easy..

That's the asking price. Hard top, rhino lined, lift, etc.

jeep auto's have always been pretty stout tranny's...

however, I have come to perfer my manual tranny's... only thing that will really wear out if you drive reasonable is the clutch... I have had way to many auto tranny's fail on me in my time.

although if I were to get a newer jeep it would be for the wife so it would be auto (she wants one)...

Manual fan myself, gives me something to do when I'm driving. Jeep trannys are tough.

I like the precision control I have with a manual. I loved it for rock crawling. A lot of people say auto is easier for off roading, but when I'm on a steep grade and pushing over a rock, I want to be in complete control of the power going to the wheels. Don't want a surprise down/up shift or anything else. I will admit I threw in a hand throttle on the shifter so I could use the clutch and brake and throttle all at the same time on steep grades.

It's all personal preference though. I learned to drive in a manual. My first 4 cars were manual. My jeep was manual. Now I drive an automatic truck. Nice in traffic, but if I were offroading, I'd want a manual again.

If for just in woods I'd get a stick if for highway I'd get an auto

if i get a jeep i want an auto. i would be getting one for the mud riding and just riding around with the top down. i understand the rock crawling and stick thing though.
