Has anyone been hit with the'' windows recovery virus''. I got it about 2 hrs ago.

What does it do?

Blocks out most of your desk top,lost my favorites page.It's a fake trojan wanting to sell you a fix.

type the exact name of it in google and should pop some good answers on how to remove the particular one. normally they are pretty easy to remove.

Nooooooo. Have already put it on google,lot of sites selling disks or downloads for the fix. Was hoping someone would know the best one.

Viruses stink.

Go into safe mode and download RKill . Then start computer in safe mode again and run the RKILL and it will suspend the looping effect the virus causes. Then stay in that mode and go to a site called Microsoft ONe Care Live and run this.

It will let you know where you are and what has been done.

What i found was that the stupid virus hides all your programs and files and makes you believe that you have lost everything. Actually it is all still there.

I run Avast antivirus on my home computer. The virus I had hit my work computer.

yeah, I got it two days ago... I got rid of the virus with malwarebytes it is gone, but there are still things screwed up...

it changes settings in your registry, which isn't good...
