They are selling guns again, especially pistols because people are buying them! Has nothing to do with roots. Gun shops are opening everywhere because people are freaking out about the gov't taking guns away. There has been a huge increase in the sale of guns(especially handguns) recently. The funny thing is they will never take our guns away, just overprice ammo so high that it's not funny.

The way they throw their stock around I wouldn't buy one from them.
Guns come in seperately via ups and then have to be signed in by someone in the department then go get opened and all signed into the books and then most go into a safe in the back. They actually take pretty good care of them compared to everything else.
Here in Austin they all quit selling several years ago.
I talked to a man at the gun counter at one of them just before they stopped and he stated that management had determined it wasn't worth the hassle to sell them anymore.
Remember Wal-Mart has always been about the bottom line and guns have a very low profit margin. The fact they are bringing them back is a good thing. It shows they recognize demand for a product they don't carry except in rural stores.
And don't think any Academy gun counter guys are any more knowledgeable. There is a gun counter "expert" at the one here in Round Rock that makes me roll my eyes every time I hear him give advice when I'm in that store.

I think I have heard that guy giving advice before.
If you know what you are looking for, salesman issues shouldn't even be an issue.
They carry all of the major manufactures guns, i.e. Ruger, Remington, Mossberg and they used to have a catalog that you could order from that you could get just about anything.
Their prices are competitive. I saw a Ruger 10/22 stainless/synthetic in there the other night for ~$225.00.
THIS ^^^ I go in looking for about 10 guns, If I find one with the right price tag I drool over it for a couple weeks then buy it.
Why would you trust any of those college kids at a store? They dont know what their talking about, Usually hung over from last night!
By the way I hope they do the same thing they did last time. They stock em and decide in a few years that guns are bad and sell them at ridiculously low prices.
Bout 5 years ago when they stopped selling them in a few stores round here, they actually put em on clearance! WAAAAHHOOOO! I got quite a few guns that day.
Including a ruger mini 14 for around 300 bux and a 10/22 for about 100.
Of course I had these with me and the rest of my guns at the big boat and gun party in 09 and they all fell over board never to be seen again!
The two in my city and others in the area never stopped selling them. My #1 deer rifle (Remington 700 SPS in .270) was bought from WM. They are still the best in the area for ammo prices.
