    Anyone into 3gun.

I looked around to see if there was any posts on this but just seeing if there was any one in the dfw area that is in to 3gun. I have never done it but looks cool thought i would try to go to a shoot and see what it is like( youtube only does so much). May be later try to get into it.

I have shot 3-gun in the past. It's fun and frustrating all in one. It will make you a better shooter. Getting into it isn't cheap. Pistol + mags=$500, specialty shotgun w/ extended mag tube=$400, AR w/ optics=$900. That is very basic prices. If you really get into the sport, those prices will triple. It's a blast!

May need to clairfy 3gun. When I think of 3gun I think of a conventional pistol (bullseye). A .22, centerfire, and .45.

Western version = Single action pistol-- Shotgun-- Lever action rifle.
        And still not cheap either.

Modern 3-gun. Rifle, pistol, shotgun. Typically a high-cap pistol in 9,40,45. Semi-auto 12ga. w/ 21" barrel and extended mag tube. Auto rifle, typically AR with 30rd mags.

Cowboy Action (SASS) gets real pricey to get into.

You don't have to have all the gear to go shoot. You need the gear to be competitive. I've seen alot of guys come out with a 28" 870 pump, Ar-15 and handgun and shoot all day. Main thing is to make your your holster, etc secures your gear and is safe.

3gun is a blast, I used to spend my summer going to the various shoots out west in NM, Col, etc. Ft Benning has a great shoot, and there are a bunch of really well run matches in Texas throughout the year. Check out Brian Enos' forum and look at the 3 gun section, tons of info www.brianenos.com
