    s&w mp-15-22?

Been looking at these ar platform .22s. I wanted the gun and not the drop in conversion units. so all of the brands I've looked at within my price range which is under $550 this is the one that I think is the best I know it has a plastic receiver but a match barrel a-2 compensator 6-position stock. and all the other brands like the new hk and colts and American tactical ar-22 and mp-5-22 have all metal receivers but they have a aluminum barrel with a steel internal sleeve which I really really dislike!I looked at the s&w today and opened the receiver and its a scaled down ar internally for the most part which I really like. It's built from the ground up just for the 22. I put a s&w m&p-15-22 on layaway today what are your opinions on this gun and do any of yall have them and do yall like them?

    I love mine.
I had been wanting an ar but just didnt see the usefulness of them so i got a 22 instead.
Ive sent around 2000 rounds thru mine with no major issues,it does jam on occasion but what 22 doesn't.

Even though the rails are plastic do you have any problems mounting more toys?

No everything mounts up nice and tight. The plastic they use (polymer) feels really sturdy.
I have rail mounted bi-pod i use as well with no problems.

Very nice rig I want to put a light and laser on mine with a red dot also. Does it shoot tight groups?

It shoots alright for a semi, about 2" groups at 25 yards with winchester grey box.You could tighten them with better ammo i bet.

On my wish list too. That one or the Sig 522. Both have good reputations.

My bride got me one for Christmas last year and it quickly became my favorite plinker. It is built very solid and the coons I've shot were DRT with head shots. I have run hundreds of rounds through mine from the Federal bulk cartons, and it feeds them well. You do have to be careful how you load the magazine. Make sure all the rounds sit firmly against the back wall of the magazine so that the round sit on top of each other rim to rim. If you take care to do that, it will fire and feed flawlessly.

I looked at one of those and ended up getting a conversion instead. I wanted to practice with MY rifle, not a plastic one that will feel different, etc.. Plus then there's the expense of optics and other bolt ons.

So you just have to tap the back of it like an ar mag to seat them?
