    Costco used a broker to buy them from YETI and didn't go direct. There is a press release from YETI on their website/FB about this.

    I thought about buying one there, but SA didn't get any.
    Never knew why owners did this. Demand should drive down the prices but not these guys got some reason. I heard oakley sunglasses are the same way.

      Yep - their business model is larger margin with decreased volume.

      They monitor their production (throttle it actually) and inflate the price a lot. Then pump a lot of money into marketing. You'll see this with a lot of "designer" type products.

        There are coolers that perform well and there are coolers that perform exceptionally well...nuff said.

        I've got three coolers with broken latches, cracked lids and broken drain plugs and then I have my Yeti
