    Turkey Meat-Is it still good?

I took out some turkey breast meat last Monday, I seasoned it up and marinated it in a zip lock bag and then put it in the refrigertor drawer because I was going to let it marinate a few days and then cook it and basically I forgot about it. It's been in the fridge for a week and I remembered it today, do you think it is still ok to cook? I HATE WASTING ANY MEAT, BUT I ALSO DON'T WANT TO GET SICK.

My personal rule is five days max after raw is thawed; after it is cooked, one week. I wouldn't risk it. Most people I know toss raw meat after 4 days, but I always push the limits.

Does it stink? It's probably still fine unless it was a bit iffy when you first marinated it. Probably half cured with marinade too!

If it passes the smell test. Go for it.

If the marinade is a vinagar base, just make sure you cook the bird until internal temp is above 160. Vinager is like pickling, so it will help preserve it.

That's a good point. Also on your side is that it was stored in the meat drawer, which is colder than other parts of the refrigerator. On the other hand, poultry is normally supposed to be used within 2 days if kept in the refrigerator. That's a tough one. Do you feel lucky?

cook a small portion of it and give it to your MIL

check on her every hour or two

if she doesn't go to the walk-in clinic complaining of stomach cramps and nausea, then the meat is good

Ding ding ding, we have a winner, I think I'll give this idea a try!
It is seasoned with Ragin Blaze to and I hate to waste any of that stuff so I better cook it and give it a try.

Note to self,......move mother-in-law close enough to deliver test meat, but far enough to keep her from meddling in our bidniss!
