I have a friend that builds bows.. There are a few TBHer's here that have purchased them.. He live in Barry, Texas.. not too far from you.. Are you referring to traditional or a recurve?

Maybe a simple long bow. Carson has a a compound but thought we could get something simular to what they will be shooting in the scouts.

        Isn't a recurve a traditional bow?

Here is a link to a review about the bow that I bought for my son http://peteward.com/test.olequa.html.

The other place I would look would be Maddog archery, I won't post a link but a google search will find them for you. I have never heard a bad thing about a maddog bow.

go to bass pro shops and get him either a diamond nuclar ice or diamond razors edge.... depending on the weight he can handle pulling back..... awesome yuth bows. when i worked at the pass pro in pearland i fitten as young as 4 yr olds in the nuclear ice and up... great starter bows for the future serious archer... they are compounds but they do have sights which will help them be sore accurate than learning the traditional way so young. my fear personally is the young uns get discouraged easily when they try something and arnt good at it right off the bat. with the proper tuning and education with a diamond nuke or razor he will be able to hit the bulls eye relativly quick or at leaast the target... this will make the young guy or girl confident and we all know confidence is one of the key ingrediants to archery success... this is my opinion only...
