Went to my lease in Cherokee county Friday night. Saturday morning saw A couple of yearling spikes and a five point that really needs to go. I have deer coming into the feeders right now (acorns really haven't started to fall yet) so after my morning hunt I set up a ground blind at my other feeder to see what was coming to it. That afternoon I had one of the same yearling spikes come in but didn't stay long. A little later a pretty good sized doe comes in and finally gives me a shot opportunity so I decide to take her. I don't know what happened after I pulled the trigger on the release, but I ended up hitting her in the neck/spine and she drops like I had hit her with a sledge hammer. If I could figure out how to take a picture of myself with my camera I would have a LDP, but it was good to get the first one down. Since I had one down I decided sleep in this morning and go on home to get some other things done. I decided to run over to my new lease just down from the house to check the cameras. I didn't figure to hunt the new lease except after work some afternoons until I stumbled across this. I was checking out a creek bottom that lays between two pine thickets and I found a ridge with white oak acorns on the ground and some that had been eaten and four scrapes within about a fifty square yard area. I am pumped!! I took a climbing stand in early this afternoon and will wait a couple of days to give it a shot. Hopefully I will have something good to post before too long.
