Multiple sources indicated that Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall(notes) was stabbed by his wife on Friday night and underwent surgery at a Fort Lauderdale hospital.
The exact location and extent of Marshall’s injuries are unknown. According to a source, Marshall was driven to the hospital and not by ambulance. Also, the source spoke to a surgeon with knowledge of the case and said Marshall was in the intensive care unit.

“This is a very difficult time for Brandon and family. … We simply ask that his privacy is respected,” McGuire said via text message.
Marshall, a two-time Pro Bowler, just completed his fifth season in the NFL and first with the Dolphins after being acquired in trade from Denver in the 2010 offseason.
Marshall has a history of domestic violence with his current wife and a former girlfriend. There have been no incidents in the past two years involving Marshall, but he was once suspended by the league for one game because of violations of the league’s personal conduct policy
