    Crackerized bows

Has anyone had their bow 'crackerized' by that individual on that other archery website?
I've read most of the posts concerning his bows and strings.. and while his strings do look good .. just wondering what the big hoo-haa about his bow tuning skills are?
    Is he really that good?
He's got a waiting list to just return phone calls...and thats just for getting strings...

Ive only ready about good things about his tuning skills. I bought a set of Bowtech limbs from him and he seemed like a good guy. Since I was buying limbs I asked about his strings but he was so back-logged I went elsewhere.

I have a set of his strings on my GT500 that are heading to their 4th season. They have been rock solid.

I can't speak personally about his tuning abilities, but the fact that he has a huge waiting list should tell you something.

Mike Carter (Crackers) is a very good bow tuner/string builder and has a cult following amongst his clients.

If you don't feel like waiting, send your bow to Jerry at RBO or any of the other top notch bow tuners who do just as good of job

+1 tuning is tuning might as well use a sponsor who can do the same thing

I mean.. theres only so much you can do mechanically to the bow, right?

i agree, i dont get it, but i think he adds a few extra twists to get a few more FPS out of the set-ups

He must be pretty good at it with the amount of people waiting for him. I heard he will switch your limbs out so that the deflection matches?

your correct, but it's the time you spend getting "that" specific bow/set of limbs/cams/harness etc... to all peak at the same needed time. some shops get the bow tuned but not tuned to peak performance.... make sense???

i look at it like a stock engine or one that has been ported (heads&intake) and bored.... same engine but a little more time tweaking to get more out of it. (speed nocks where the bow wants them, the cams perfectly sync'd while the limbs are at their peak performance spot for that deflection, draw length spot on (not a 1/2" long)

Mike built his name building customs harnesses and tuning the bow to "it's" peak performance.

I have to admit that i'm not a fan of the word "supertuned" but there are several good tuners out there currently. like Blake posted Jerry at RBO is pretty good....

Pretty much thinking it is a waste of money. But to each his own. The last 2 bows i have had actually shot their advertised speed on the birth cert. I pretty much think your local bowshop can get you shooting right and tuned. I do all my own tuning so no big deal.

I've had bows done by him years ago. Here's my take:

first AT(the other site) has a lot of target guys, they want their bow tuned to the micron. On this sight we argue if tuning is really even doable (reference the equipment forum). For a while Mike basically did it all for you so you weren't even involved. send him the bow, get it back an eternity later and it was certainly, most definately, guaranteed to be shooting as consistent as was possible.

Also he was particularly awesome with bowtech because he had boxes of limbs and would make sure the deflection (?) was perfectly matched on every BT that left his shop. Over time his reputation made him the cats meow of tuning. He deserves it he does an amazing job.

Over the last few years I've seen more folks doing it and doing it just as well. I'd recommend someone closer and faster. For you and me whatever micron better Crackers does is overkill.

Candidly I've done it with a local guy I'd recommend repeatedly and at this point . . . . . I can do most of it myself. I've gotten stuck a little and had to go to him to help me finish the job but it's not that terribly hard.

I'd say go to the equipment forum but you'll have to wade through the debates to get what is a tuned bow and if it is in fact even doable/necessary.
