    LLM Fishing Report

My girlfriend and I decided to make a trip out of the arroyo Saturday morning, we hadn't fished together in a while as I've been making solo trips mainly on Fridays. Original plans were to be at the dock by 7, but somehow 7 turned into 10!! We left Harlingen around 9 or so and the wind was dead calm, by the time we got to the park it was probably moving around 20mph. With the high winds my attitude started to change but I decided to make the best of it!! I found my spot and decided to put in a my first drift. One of my first casts landed a nice 24" trout along with a few trout in the 16" range, I knew this would prove to be a good area.

Did another drift in the same general area and BAM a real nice fish was on!! After fighting the fish for a bit it broke off. I haven't had a fish break off in about 2 years. I guess it's time to re-spool the power pro. I being upset with myself over the equipment failure and my gf calming me down I got back to it. NEXT cast another red! This one put on a good fight and measure out at 26" and had two spots, haven't caught many keepers with more than one spot.

Decided to move a bit further north in the same general area. Again we were quickly in the fish. I had a solid hit after about 2 or 3 casts!! I told my girlfriend to get the net, I figured I had a nice red on the line. When I got the fish close to the boat I saw a HUGE YELLOW MOUTH breach the surface. The excitement was intense!! I couldn't believe my eyes and the size of this trout!! As soon as she saw the boat she started acting like a nice red, making several runs and taking plenty of drag. Twice I had her close to the boat and each time she wold take drag, the second she went completely under the boat. The fight seemed like it lasted forever!! Finally she was tired and my gf got a chance to net her, problem was she was having difficulty fitting her in the net. Once we got her on board I was literally shaking from all the excitement, my adrenaline was through the roof!! The beast measured a hair over 28", easily my biggest trout!! This trout made my 26" RED look like a baby. I snapped a few pics and decided to let her go for another day.

We decided to leave shortly after that and ended the day on a good note. I ended up keeping the 24" trout, one 26" red and a 16" trout that had swallowed my lure. I could have easily had my limit of trout today, but I normally don't take more fish than I can eat within 24-48 hours. We only fished for about 2 hours, but this was a day I will never forget!!

Everyone I've talked to can't believe I released that trout. Hopefully she will make many baby trout for everyone to catch! I can always have a fiberglass replica done if I wana put one on the wall.

Pay no mind to them...there are PLENTY of pansize fish to keep in lieu of the big sows.
The feeling one gets when watching a sow swim off that you "conquered" with a piece of plastic is priceless.

                          Cograts again.....you did good.

                              Very nice.

We were headed to the cut this past weekend, but we let the wind forecast scare us off.

                              You done good.
