    AR 5.7 x 28 any good?

I'm planning on another AR and thinking of going with a different caliber. My current project is the 5.56. Been thinking about 204 Ruger, 6.8, or maybe the 5.7x28. I don't know enough about the latter two to make the call yet. I would like to have ammo that is readily available- like Academy, or at least Bass Pro. I have seen 5.7 at BP, but not 6.8. What do you guys think of these cartridges? Got any other good suggestions?

If I'm not mistaken, I think it is close to the 270.

Depends on what you are going to do with it. I have a FN 5.7 x 28 pistol with 30 round mags and they will go thru ballistic vest. I have some LEO friends that say they don't like the thought about going against them but with that said it is a very hot round.
The 5.7x28mm cartridge is a small caliber, high velocity cartridge.

This gun would be used for the gun range mostly. Maybe a few pigs. Is the 5.7 an accurate round? Is it a short and long range round? On to the 6.8- does it do well out to 300 yards? I will probably not shoot it that far- but I would like to know if it was capable or not.
              Thanks,

The 6.8 is a .277 cal bullet "same size projectile as a .270" in a cartridge based off the .30 Remington case.

IMO 5.7 would not be good for hog hunting 5.56, 6.8, 7.6x39 or 308 would be best.

So the 5.7 would be a better "small" critter round, or just plinking round?

It would be good for coyotes and smaller.
