    400 vs. 500 EFI vs. 800 EFI

There are considerable price differences between each. What justifies the greater expense over the other?

    Bigger is better, Duh

My opinion is it all depends on usage. I have several 4 wheelers and a UTV. If I am going to the lease to just run around and check feeders, stands, game cam etc I take the wifes little 330 cc wheeler. It gets me around just fine. If I'm going to fill feeders pulling my little trailer with 15-20 bags of corn, move stands or pull equipment I load up my 700.

Either of them will do fine if your just toting yourself and gear around. If you intend to do any heavy pulling or work, upsize accordingly. Even the 400 will do just about anything the 800 will do, but it will break more frequently and have a shorter life. Look at it like comparing a 1/2 ton truck to a 1 ton truck. Usage determines what you need.

    Hope that helps.

I own a 500 and have driven a couple 700's that other lease members own. Both are great machines. We hunt the mountains in southeastern Oklahoma and it's some extremely rough terrain. My 500 has done me just fine up there so it really just depends on how much power you want and if you think its worth the extra cash.

I bought an 800 from Stubbs last month. They had the best price that I could find.

I would knock the 400 off the list.

We have a 700 XP, and used to have the 500 EFI.

To be perfectly honest, the 500 would do just about anything that our 700 does now. Don't kid yourself, the 500 will load up with 1,000 lbs of corn and go through some thick stuff too.

If money permits, I would go with the 800, however, the 500 ain't no slouch. Anyone that thinks that simply has never owned one.

I have a 500 and a buddy of mine has a 700 XP and they both will do the exact same thing. The 500 is tough and strong. I have hauled with it, pulled with it and had no problems. You might consider the 500 and save the extra cash for extras you are going to want to add to it. Bow case, gun case, etc.

The sales manager at Stubbs Southwest told me the 500 only has 500lb capacity and the 800 was 1000lbs? I had to go check and the 500 has 1000lb rating and the 800 is 1500lbs. He also said the new 500 EFI had the same power as the old 700 carburated? What you guys think about that statement? Kinda has me scratching my head after the payload answer I got.

Also, are these things selling for list or a % off list? I don't want specifics, just only been able to get a quote on them and all were list price.

                          Kind of strange.

Just so you know, the 500 EFI we used to have was a 2006 model and it was 30 HP. Load rating was 1,000 lbs and it would do it. Had 700 + lbs in corn in the back of that thing multiple times. Fuel injected models do have more HP, so I guess it is not out of reason that a 500 fuel injected has more HP than a 700 carburated? For instance, that 500 EFI had more HP at the time the 660 carburated Yamaha Rhino had; this was in 2006.

As for discounts, these places won't negotiate much. Cash buyers do a little better as the dealer won't incur financing charges. However, don't ever settle for the first amount, not hard to crack a deal for a couple hundred more off. Also, one other thing I noticed was that even if they may not knock a few more dollars off, you may can make a little up in accessories. For instance, on the 700 XP we have now, they wouldn't go further down on the vehicle price, but they threw in a hard-top roof for 50% retail, which was s $200 savings. They also threw in a battery maintaner for the winch.

Go to Genes Polaris in Baytown. They have a huge test driving area.

Get the 800, it's just like a new garage, no matter how big you built it, it fills up fast. The 800 will give you some power to spare so you can pull a little trailer, disc for food plots or whatever you need to do and it won't have to work as hard. I always seem to get just a little extra. I got the 700 when I bought in 08, runs like a champ.

I just bought an 800 two days ago. Procrastinated for years then just did it. I couldn't be happier! If you are financing the difference between small and maxed out may only be about $50 a month.
