Does anyone have any experiance or feedback on this mower. I am not worried about the engine, but the mechanics of the machine is in question. I have an chance to buy a nice used one cheap, and that is what worries me.

2 years ago I bought a new Cub Cadet Zero Turn Tractor from Home Depot.
The zero turn tractor is great. The mower deck assembly and magnetic clutch are junk. The blades are timed instead of offset. If the belt gets loose and slips the blades miss-time and they are on opposite rotation. They hit together with all the force of the motor.
I have replaced all three belts twice each, the blade timing belt 3 times at ($42 each), the spindle on each side of the deck(at $120 each), and the magnetic clutch ($400).
If you are interested in a cheap Cub I can hook you up.
Note: this is a residential type tractor and maybe not to the quality of Cubs commercial stuff. I would at least look to see if that RTZ has timed blades that counter-rotate.

I would stay away from Cub Cadet products if I were you. They are not the Cub Cadet of the past. They are way overpriced MTD mowers. There are many other mowers out there for the same money that will mow circles around the Cub Cadets. This is coming from someone that has owned two cub cadets. Trust me, I will never own another one.

MOST NAME BRAND RESIDENTIAL MOWERS ARE MADE BY SOMEONE ELSE(mtd) WITH A NAME ON THEM. (john deere, cub cadet, etc. etc.). With that being said, if you take care of the mower, keep the oil changed, blades sharp, and everything greesed it will last for a long time. Oh and dont try to mow over tree roots, rocks, or try to mulch the limbs laying around the yard with it. My point is if you take care of them they will last. If you don't they won't. Mowers are also like bows, sometimes you just get a bad one.

Good luck with your Cub Cadet, but just beware that when it closes in on 100hours, it will prove me right. They are crap!

If I were you, I'd save my money and buy something more durable. Like previous people have stated before, Cub Cadet isn't the same quality of machine as when International Harvester owned it.
If you have to mow as much grass as I do (several acres), I'd buy a machine with a heavy gauge welded deck. I've owned many brands through the years and some with stamped decks that didn't hold up over time. BTW, I am not abusive to machinery and keep everything greased, oiled, and maintained.
Most of the commercial ZTR's with welded decks have 1/4 thick blades and hold up far better in tough mowing conditions. Also, keep in mind that the welded decks generally have more clearance underneath (Grasshopper, Exmark, Toro, Scag, Ransom) and can handle more clippings and thus don't usually clog as easy, especially when the moisture level is higher.
There is a difference in blade speed with certain brands. Blade speed and thickness influence the quality of cut.
There have been certain conditions where I have needed or preferred a front mount ZTR. The deck sits out in front instead of underneath like a midmount ZTR.
If I can help with any questions, feel free to send me a PM. I own a lot of machinery, large and small of all kinds. Some is for farming purposes.
