    First trip to Alaska

My nephew and i had planned an elk hunt in Colorado, but they aren't issuing OTC archery cow tags for our unit, so we opted for an Alaska fishing trip instead. We leave in September to fish the Kenai River and Cook Inlet for Salmon, trout and halibut. I have always dreamed of going to Alaska, now we will. Sweeeet.

I spent a summer up in the Matanuska Valley playing baseball. It is a summer I will never forget, did some great fishing on the Kenai when we traveled down there! Have a great time!

It's a blast, I use to go fishing in Homer in the summers. Lots of salmon and halibut.

You're going to love it! I fished the Kenai about 5 or 6 years ago. I went with my dad and we went fishing for King Salmon and trout...The salmon fishing was fun but the trout fishing was really fun!

Be sure to take tons of pictures and post them up when you get back!!!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this to you but Sept is getting kind of late for salmon fishing. click on some of the links on this site so you can get an idea of peak and off peak times. http://www.alaskaoutdoorjournal.com/Sonar/kpcharts.html

If you need to chat pm me. I go every couple of years and would be happy to help.
