Anyone ever tip their UTV on it's side when they wipe out?

My son took a corner took quickly on my kawasaki mule 4010. it went over on it's side. it didnt seem the worse for wear but i noticed some oil leaking out the side area of it underneath the back seat-passenger side area. It stopped leaking but i am still concerned. Anyone have any idea what was up with that?

my buddy bought a rzr that was turned over on it's side and he has the same problem he has to put about a quart in it every time we go ride. he is a mechanic and fixed all the other stuff he put some lucas in it some really thick oil in it and he said it slowed the leak down alot

Maybe an overflow valve that helps protect from over filling your oil.

That's my guess without knowing anything about them.

was it leaking while on its side ? then quit while upright

If so.....many engines will lose oil while not in their proper position.

If it quit leaking and is not smoking like crazy from oil on top of the piston and runs ok then refill what you lost and go on.

Your engine vent is under the seat, different motor style than a Polaris, just check the oil level and clean it up. You will want to check the air filter for gas in it as well, clean the prefilter and re-oil and your good to go. The filter will dry out and suck dirt if it had gas on it which im sure it did.

Hopefully no dirt! He wiped out on pavement! HIs leg broke the fall of the mule thank goodness! LOL! He has road rash from hell on his leg! Thanks alot guys! Yes it stopped leaking once it had been up right for 5 minutes or so. Sad thing is that I just bought it 7 days ago!!!!!!!!!

You need to check the air filter, I was a Kawasaki mech for many years and I have seen many motors bit the bullet months after a roll or tip over due to fuel leaking into the air filter and when the fuel dries it leaves the pre filter dry allowing dust to pass through. It should have a light coating of oil on it.

You can get a mule going fast enough to tip it over??? It always feels like I could run faster than the top
speed on those things........and I'm SLOW!!!!

true.... I think the first mule on its side I have heard about since 2005... your boy is lucky he didn't break his leg, a mule is not the ride to try to stop a rollover with a leg... way too much weight. glad rash was all he got.

The last mule I heard about going over on its side was driven by a twelve yr old kid, his parents went to his funeral a couple days later. To heck with the oil just be glad everyone is ok and hopefully learned a lesson

glad your son's okay. Sounds like the mule is fine. You might run it back to the dealership if your not certain!

If it's quit leaking oil, then it will be alright. The shop will get ya hooked up and going back again. Just tell your son to slow down next time. Those Mule's aint exactly light enough to be flipping over. Good thing he didn't get hurt that bad.
