The smaller rectangular buckle blanks are $7 each + shipping. Thus one is a little snake and I'd be pressed to have it fit the larger oval. If I mounted it on a piece of leather and wrapped it over the edges and glued on the back, I may not have to worry about the glue showing up front. How do guys glue this to hats, bow limbs and not see the adhesive?

I have a 32" coral snake in the freezer--need to thaw him out, skin him out and tan the hide. Would make a beautiful hatband--

It's smooth and supple now- what glue will stick to the skin after the glycerine? I know now that cyanoacrylate gel, JB Quick and silicone sealer won't.

For something the size of a belt buckle try some five minute epoxy, if being flexible is not a concern that stuff should do the trick.

I'm trying to glue to the leather buckle insert and wrap around the back. I'll try the 5 min epoxy but JB Quick sticks to darn near everything and did not stick to the skin- only to the leather.

Contact cement. I wiped the inside down with isopropyl alcohol, let dry then applied a heavy coat to skin and leather. When tacky dry pushed together. Repeated on the back and wrapped the skin around leather buckle insert. Buckle is from Tandy leather.

I got the second buckle done, looks like the first. Now on to the leather belts. What do t use to darken the unfinished leather belts from Tandy? Is there a special stain for leather crafts?

Here's #1 buckle, I don't know what happened Tommy last upload. I still need advise on staining leather darker.

Finished belts. I used mahagony wood stain on the leather, they stayed light but look good.

I should post the how-to in the DIY section.
