Oh what a difference a year makes... 60+"

Lot of talk lately about deer breeders etc... Just thought I would post a couple of pictures. This is one we'll be keeping an eye on this year as he grows out as a three year old.

All are welcome to come out to the ranch and see firsthand what the business is all about... There are a lot of people that are making judgments without knowing exactly what the real truth to the business is all about, they're making those judgments only after visiting one ranch. Not all are equal

We give tours throughout the year, but the best time to come visit is the last week of Aug or the first week of Sept (the bucks have almost finished growing).

First set of pics 2.5 yr old and second set of pics 3.5?

It may just be the pictures but my personal opinion that deer looks healthy and vibrant at 2.5 but the 2nd set of pics he sure looks tired or stressed? Does anyone else see that or is it just me?

1.5 in the first pic's and 2.5 in the second.

It was 110 degrees when his 2yr old pic's were taken. And he was about to shed his velvet. All bucks go through a "sinking" period just as they shed their velvet. As you can see in the pictures as a 1.5yr old he still had some growing to do (the antlers are still bulb on the ends) and the picture was taken early morning in 80 degree weather

Seems like people can't always tell a lot from just looking at picture or two... If you think he was 2.5 and 3.5 in those pic's

The deer's tag is Orange 823, The 8 stands for the year he was born and the 23 stand for being the 23 buck fawn of 2008. The # 14 is a way we can identify his Sire. The picture was taken in 2010 whitch makes him 2yr old

You would look tired also if you had 5' more feet of bone on your head.

        Nice deer Mike...

are those deer from east texas or were they imported. i have seen some nice deer on trail cams in your neck of the woods. never thought i would see free ranging deer with the genetics they had in east texas.

When you breed an animal that is not native to texas... that is bred to mature much earlier and be MUCH bigger body at an earlier age... that is born in MAY you can understand the confusion.
