    Fixed Blade Broadhead For Turkey?

I am headed towards Abilene this weekend. Got a good report from my friend that there are plenty of mature toms at his place. Will be shotgunning the first bird that is called in. But after that I am going to switch over to my bow.

I shoot Slick Trick 100 gr Magnums. Have read alot of stuff that claims expandable broadheads work better for longbeards because they are a little slower. Just curious what some of yall's experiences have been with fixed blades for gobblers.

Shot 2 birds with my bow, one with a rage and one with a G5 striker. Both worked great.

Steelforce sabertooth is wicked on them

The slick tricks will work fine

Shot placement is key, broadside where the shoulders meet will do one in quickly.

I know some folks who stick a grasshopper behind the fixed blade with good results. Turkeys aren't super tough, but they can go a good ways on even a lethal shot with little bleeding. Lots of folks like the diameter of fixed heads, or the idea that the arrow may remain in the bird impeding running or flight.

I've taken 8 with Thunderheads. Never had one go over 25 yards.

            Good luck, Cable!

Shot placement ALWAYS trumps broadhead selection.
Put it in the right spot and the bird WILL go down.

After getting some pointers from Mark Lee (Bower), I tried the drumstick shot and it proved to be very effective, for me.
