    Lexi meets technology

Many of you know my dog Lexi. I got her from Txsuperdad awhile back and she has proven to be a very intelligent dog. She picked up on her training very quickly. Understands voice and whistle comands. This is the first dog I've trained and I credit her intelligence greatly with the success of her training.....However, yesterday was the first time I wondered just how smart she was

I put a hot wire around the flower beds that she has now completely destroyed. I hooked it up and tested it just to make sure it works. Trust me, it works. Well about in an hour later I looked out the window and I see her starting to head towards the flower beds.

She looked at it for a few seconds and tried to crawl under it and ZAP she jerked backed. She started to sniff it and ZAP right on the nose; she jumped back again. She sticks her tongue out and licks it! ZAP and she jumped back again. Apparently she didn't get the hint the any of the 3 times cause then she decided to bite it and ZAP a fourth time! She finally got the picture and backed off. It was pretty funny to watch though. Love her but sometimes I question her common sense.

Gotta love the curiosity of a young pup!

LOL! I've got a lab pup around the same age and she is getting into the flower beds also. It looks like I'm gonna have to break out a little elctricity soon.

If she would quit digging and chewing she would be the best dog ever. those are the only complaints I have about her. Other than that she's great. I know she'll grow out of it but she sure it causing alot of damage. Kailey wanted to get rid of her but I talked her out of it.

That is funny... The best part of owning a pup is the first 3 months and the time when they quit digging and chewing up everything...

It sounds like you and I are in the EXACT same boat. Jessie is an awesome pup and smart as a whip but of course she likes to chew and it starting in on my wifes flower beds...typical lab. Jessie and my wife have a love/hate relationship going on right now.

                Good looking pup!

Best thing I EVER did with my lab when he was at that chewing stage was to get him some raw bones from the local butcher. Ask 'em for the knuckles off a cow. He'd wear himself OUT chewing on one of those suckers. Just make sure to give it to 'em OUTSIDE, otherwise mama might have a heart attack. And yes, that's spoken from experience.

Or you can give him the bones off a buffalo. That kept him busy for a LONG time.
