How to get a broken key out.

Take the lock cylinder out, submerge it in some kind of penetrating fluid/lubricant for several hours. Tap against something lightly until the key starts to work out far enough to get ahold of it with needle nosers.


Next time buy a real toolbox.

I have used a very small screwdriver, something like an eyeglass screwdriver to try and very easily pry/walk out a busted key...typically there is some type of lip on the broken part of the key just from bending or turning...walk it out enough to get ahold of it with a some needle nose pliers or tweezers or something

heck, you might be able to put some compressed air to the back side of it after taking that hook screw out of the back of it...

Go to a locksmith and he will have a spare key for it.....

the lock had a nut on the inside and was able to take it out and put it in a vise and work it out with two small picks.

Bubble gum and let it dry then pull it out. Works everytime if you need it in the future.

cool...thanks! didnt like the idea of putting super glue in there but the gum sounds like a good idea
