    Product review: BC LUMENOK

I changed to Easton Axis arrows this year and have had heck making my own lighted nocks for them because they are so thin. I broke down and bought 3 of the Burt Coyote Lumenoks for the Axis Arrows. I was warned that they were tight fitting!! That is an understatement.

I took the first one out and looked it over. Looks a little fragile to me. cleaned the end of all 3 arrows and slipped one in half way. Wasn't going any more without considerable force. I took it out, hit it lightly with some sand paper and tried again. It went in with some force applied and lit up. Said to myself..."self, that is pretty neat."

Took the other two out and had the same thing happen. To tight to seat all the way. Little sanding(very little) and they went in. One came on easily, the others took a little tinkering. They are all now in and take some effort to seat which is what activates them.

Took them out back and shot the three 12 times. That is 4 chances for each to do its thing. I have one that will light every time. Two that light up when they impact the target(completely seats on impact) I did a post shoot examination and have come to the conclusion that these are a generic nock to fit the slim arrows and not any one in particular. Fitting is definately required and a little to much either way and they wont work. To tight, won't seat, to loose and the string will seat them and then pull them back enough as it leaves to turn them off.

I can probably do some detailed fitting(which is required on the home made ones as well) and make these work but at $9 each, I shouldn't have to be doing that.

    Overall....they suck.

Man that is a bummer your having issues. I have 9 on my GTs and never an issue except for I had a few that would not light when I bought them. I called the company and they immediately sent me out replacements.

Not sure what the arrow issue is. I know they use a GoldTip nock to make mine and that may make a difference.

I would call the Company and chat with them. I spent an hour on the phone with the inventer/owner last week and I can promise they would be receptive to your issues. Give them a shout and see if there is some fluke with they ones they sold you.

      I agree...I ain't gettin fooled again!!!

I like the concept but I had the same issues when I tried them a couple of years ago. I have heard that there is a better mouse trap maker out there!!!

I am know using the KISS theory when it comes to bowhunting.

They are tight but they should fit. When I install mine I make sure the bottom is pulled down from the battery. If not it pushes up on the side of the battery and does not go in. Hope this helps if I had a pic Id send it

Yep, that little orange plastic battery holder has to be under the battery or it wont go in at all. That isn't the problem with these. The nock is just WAY to tight. To the point that I would break something trying to seat it.

Yep, they are WAY to tight on my ST's also. I was scared to break them off so I let the BowZone put mine in. I noticed that 1 of them works occassionally also. For the price they should be perfect. I rather have them than not though!

Well I just switched to Tracers and they aren't to great either. I cant seem to get the magnet close enough. Wish I would have stayed with the Luminocks. Prob. be switching back real soon.

I've tried almost every lighted nock on the market. The Lumenoks have been the most reliable to me. As to the fitmet issue, I noticed they were very tight in my Axis FMJs and I did the same thing with the sanding and got them to fit perfectly. As to the inconsistent lighting, the mail thing I found that 99% was the culprit is arrows that are not square on the nock end.

I bought a pack of three lumenoks a while back and they sucked!!! I was using regular carbon arrows and they were not very responsive. I finally trashed em and had enough. After I switched to Easton FMJ's a friend of mine had some on his and they worked like a champ!!! I think the fact that the metal at the end makes the contact and not carbon (metal does conduct a little better than carbon) helps quite a bit. As far as them being tight, you have to buy the X nock version of them (there is a difference) and I just twisted the nocks that were in there quite a few times and then the lum's slid in fine. Mine have worked great!! Oh and the homemade ones do suck out loud to make for a small walled arrow.

I installed 3 Lumenok's on my FMJ's and have not had any problems getting them to light up. The trouble I have is turning them dudes OFF!

Does anyone know what the shelf life is for lumenoks? I took some out of package I bought last year and not a one worked.

Cody My former ranch Foreman shot a hog across the road his first Kill arrow with Lumanock he bought Failed to light up after goign thru the hoh.

On the Otherhand Tracer Nocks made in san Antonio and are patented light up every time

they even have a programmed one that stays lit for a few min then goes to a blinking mode that lets the battery last something like 39 hours

The Pro Shop I used to work had to eat every one that was sold they all came back

                            Lumanock Suck to the roots
