it's also been well documented that there are more paralyzing and season ending injuries which occur on kickoffs and returns than any other type play

this rule change is being implemented to protect the players

here is a quote from 10-20-10 detailing the NFL's stance .......... " The league, which obviously has an interest in protecting not only its on-the-field product but its brand, announced on Monday that it would tweak the rules to prevent such violence. .... "

The NFL wants to protect the players who sell tickets and create more $$$$ for the shield.

why do you think the rules have changed so much in the last 5 years to protect the QB ... Manning, Brady, etc.... i.e. - no hitting below the knee, late hits, etc.....

Maybe next year they'll vote to put up the Arena Bowl nets to keep the kickoffs in play....

Bunch of big money making cry babies. They say they put their life in danger every time they play, but most of us put our life in danger everyday when we go to work

If something doesn`t change, they won`t be kicking from any yardline!

Was watching ESPN before I came to work. Cribbs, return man for the Browns, thinks the rule change is stupid. He understands what they are trying to do, but he called it BS. Even the dude from ESPN said that it isn't going to change anything really. The coverage team is still gonna be at full speed when they get down field.

They even talked about getting rid of kickoffs all together, and just placing the ball on the 25. Football isn't what it used to be. What ever happened to the guys who played because they loved the game? Now it is all about the money, and who can get the biggest bonuses.

My job puts me in Iraq........ I would definatly say my life is in danger everyday. I make what????????? Maybe 1% of what they make..

Like I said, they have lost what it means to PLAY the game.

Why don't they just tie colored flags around their waist, and count to 10 mississippi before they can rush the QB?

Not too sure what to think about all this really.

I guess we will just have to watch and see how any rule changes effect the way the game is played and viewed by the masses. WE are the reason for them getting the big bucks right? If we don't like the product they deliver, then we don't support them by putting our hard earned money into any of it.

I have not given the NFL a dime in many, many years. How about y'all???

Good point Gerrald . The owners need to just go with the old CBA.
