kill the drum/reds/trout on these swimming mullet gulps(they are small) in pearl, pink, black and yellow. It's what we fish with 99% of the time down there.

Like stated above, I favor the 3" or 4" new penny shrimp on popping cork. BUT, I do something a little different. Instead of using a poping cork, I use a spook as my popper. You ever have those times when the trout are bustin your cork? This way when they bust the "cork", you now have a fish on, instead of whining because they arent hitting your shrimp under the water. I do this by tieing my spook on like normal. Then I attach about an 18" leader on the tail end hook ring, and tie on the shrimp there. It can have its problems with tangling in the last hook, so sometimes I remove the last hook where my leader is tied to prevent the tangling. I have had a lot of success when using that combination. If you are really in the fish, sometimes you get to fight 2 fish at the same time. Good Luck!

The Berkley Gulp Saltwater Jerk Shad is #1 in my book, (even better than the Shrimp).Redfish go APE for these things!
Rigged with a 5/0 offset hook it is virtually weed and snag free! If your fishing in waters over 5-6Ft use a screw-in, bullet, worm weight.
If your fishing in muddy/stained water the "Nuclear Chicken Glow" works well.
Other good colors are "Sardine", "Rootbeer Gold", & "New Penny".

jerk shad in new penny for the land cut and baffin, bone color and spoons for the hole. I occasionally use the gulp shrimp in new penny under an alameda popping cork too when the water clarity is poor.
the land cut is.... pretty "decent" right now....
we were down at the cabin last week and absolutely killed them.Last edited by kyle1974; 03-22-2011, 07:48 PM.
