    Getting elec at lease

So we wanna get a meter set at the lease. Oncor says we have to talk to a provider. Reliant says to call oncor. Anyone have any advice? And a ballpark on the cost?

Depending where you are located it is probably an electric co-op that you need to contact. The co-op can get you connected - for a price.

Comanche electric is the co-op for the Ranger area. Give them a call

be prepared to pay, we got a quote in Strawn and it was $ 1500 to drop a meter.

Also depends on how far back into the lease you take it. ~$2/foot?

On the two properties I have done it on there was no charge but there was overhead power near by. One coop actually provided the t pole and then I had to provide it on the other. If there is power near buy i would write the number down on the closest pole and they can usally locate it by that or if there is a meter on the property write down the # on it and it will help them locate it and makes the proces much easier.

I got a 3g estimate from Medina Electric in Uvalde county and electric was close.

I used to work for an electric co-op a way long time ago and I was the guy that went out and designed the new lines and such. When someone came in asking for power to a hunting camp there was an upfront charge and a monthly minimum bill. On the other hand if they were asking for electricity to a water well there was no upfront charge (if it was close, 200' or less from an existing line) but there was a monthly minimum. Not telling you what to do but you might need to be careful how you ask for service. Also, if the landowner requests the service it typically goes smoother as the contract typically includes text regarding right away and permission for access to service the line.

Our coop gave a $1500 reduction for each meter installed with a 2 year contract and $20 per month minimum per meter. We had quite a distance to take it so it saved $4500 off installation with 3 meters. It cut the price in half for the land owner. We plan on going back to 1 meter after the 2 year period. Sure beats a generator... Just wire accordingly for the switch later.

depends on how far you are from an existing line and how far they have to build a tap to you
