    Advice on Riley Mountains

I'm looking at a place in the Riley Mountains a few miles southeast of Llano. Any one hunted this area? Are there many deer(I've not found much sign)? Many hogs? Do any dove go through there? I have seen a few ducks. Any other issues good or bad in that area?

Any info would be much appreciated.

I hunted the KDK Harmon ranch several times with a buddy and it was one of the best ranches I have ever hunted. TONS of deer and MONSTER deer. Id drop some cash on a lease there in a hurry if I had a chance and had extra cash lol. It was on cr 308

Where abouts is this place? We have a place off of 308. Good deer in the area. The first year we had a ton of deer and the neighbor high fenced next to us and that dropped the numbers in half at least but still plenty of deer. I only get to hunt there a couple of times a year but I still usually have atleast one chance each year at a P&Y but I usually blow it. I truely believe if I hunted it 6 or 7 times a year I would get one every year out there. Lots of hogs showing up this year, seeing more turkeys this year than any other year in the last 5 or 6. I have seen 1 Audad but have talked to guys on here who have seen more around there. There are a decent number of dove around but I have only seen good numbers when they are coming into roost after official sunset. We always have wigeon and ringnecks on our little pond through Nov. and Dec.

      Hope this helps.

That info is really helpful. Thanks. It's over on County Road 312 up on top of the mountain. I haven't seen much deer or hog sign but I know from being on a couple places more over toward the Sandy, that were thick with deer and hogs.

From all the research and people i've talked to, it seems like the Riley Mountain Wildlife program that about 30,000 acres is under has really helped. I'm sure it differs from ranch to ranch but overall there are less deer, but they are bigger bodies and horns.
