    I need some advice

We were in a year long lease on a house and had to break the lease after seven months. They told me that we would have to pay a releasing fee of $1000 plus each months rent until some leased it, someone leased it before the next month so no extra month rent. When we moved in we put $1400 deposit down, they told us they would send someone to paint and do the yard which didn't happen. So we told them to take the releasing fee out of the deposit which they replied they were keeping the deposit because the inside of the house needs to be painted and I needed to send them $1000 for the releasing fee. I would appreciate any advise on what to do.

Unless you trashed the inside of the house is trashed, $1400 is a bit steep. Luckily in Texas renters have many rights that protect them. Do a little searching on Texas renters law and maybe speak with a lawyer. I have had to deal with crap like this several times moving in college and it can be frustrating but you definitely have the law on your side. The releasing fee should be stated in your contract. If it is not stated and you have found someone to take it over you should be good.

I appreciate it, we actually left the house cleaner than when we moved in and the paint had a few chips from us but hardly noticeable.

If the condition of the paint is within normal wear and tear you should be getting the entire deposit back. Also you do have pictures of the condition when you moved in, and when you moved out, right? The release fee should be set out in the lease, otherwise I would be fighting that as well.
