    What Would You Do?

We have been using these three Mexican sisters to clean our house for about a year now. They were recommended by some friends, and now they clean houses for a bunch of friends and acquaintances. As I understand it, they are all single women who live in a trailer and have some kids. They do a REALLY good job cleaning and the wife is thoroughly impressed. So much that she gives the bonuses occasionally and gives them old clothes and kids videos, toys, etc.

So over the last year, some random stuff started coming up missing. First it was some nice kids clothes (that the kids still wear). Then it was a DVD here or there. Then a piece of $50 jewelry. All stuff that you could see yourself or your kids misplacing.

But lately, more and more stuff has come up missing. For instance, dresses from my daughter's closet my wife was saving for Spring that have never been worn and still had the tags. It is mostly kids and my wife's clothes.

So my wife starts talking to her friends and it appears just about every one of them has been having the same problem. Stuff missing. And it seems to be mainly clothes, videos, etc. However, one is missing a $500 ring.

The girl missing the $500 ring and some sentimental items was extremely mad and called one of the sisters yesterday. She of course denied everything, but says she will talk to her sisters.

They are supposed to come on Friday. We haven't talked to them yet. So what to do? Call the Sheriff and try to have him there when they show up? Maybe everyone calls the Sheriff and reports them and perhaps it gets something done??

Pretty sure no one thinks they can continue to let these people in their homes.

Hidden camera first. Can't go accusing without solid proof.

I cannot stand a theif! That sucks for you and everyone else envolved.

Thats a hard situation man since now they know they are "under investigation". They have been outed; it would suprise me if they showed back up. Too bad nobody set a game cam up.

yep......S.O. won't be able to do anything other than take a theft report and list them as possible suspects. Then they deny it and there is no proof, case gets closed.

I think yall all need to have a tlak and everyone call and drop them at the same time. One of the sisters is a crook if not all of them. Its ashame yall are doing something nice for them and getting robbed at the same time.

This^^ Because the odds are the jewelry is sold and or melted down for the metal and jewels. If you don't catch them in the act, then you have a he said she said situation and before the cops get a warrant to search their place they will get ride of EVERYTHING that they have stolen for the last so many years so that they are not caught. If you can't put in a video camera, then rig up a TC to snap some stills. IF you really are brave, put out some costume jewelry of your wives and set them up. You don't need to say it was a set up, but you just happen to have it out and the camera just happened to be pointing at it.

Any way, let us know what happens.

                  1. Are they in this country legally?
                  2. Plant something like a ring, watch, clothes, etc in a specific area.
                  3. Spend a few dollars to get a hidden camera. Search for one online. You can get a camera in just about anything these days. Place the camera in the area where you planted an item. See if they take it.
                  4. Cheapest course of action is to fire them and don't let strangers in your house.

I won't even let people in my house to babysit. And I'd rather have a dirty house than have people rummage through my stuff on a daily basis. Sorry situation, you just can't give strangers that much trust, they can't handle it.

It may be too late to set them up with a camera, etc. now that they have been questioned. However, my wife said someone did set up a hidden camera of some sort on them, but I don't know exactly what they captured.

Understood about the strangers in the house. But, how do you ever find anyone to clean your house? The ones you get from maid services never do that great of a job. But if you hire an individual, how do you ever know when/if you can trust them? And I'm pretty sure most of my wife's friends would be insulted if she tried to hire them to clean our house.
